Microcredentials are increasingly recognised as a strategic tool to bridge the gap between formal education and rapidly changing labour market needs. As Europe advances its green and digital transitions, new skills are required at a pace that traditional qualifications cannot always match.
This session will explore the case of the construction sector, one of the key drivers of the EUβs Green Deal objectives. Construction is under strong pressure to modernise, upskill its workforce, and ensure sustainability practices β and microcredentials can play a central role in this transformation.
Key topics to be addressed:
- Taxonomy of sustainable microcredentials: building a coherent framework for the construction sector that ensures relevance, comparability, and trust across EU countries.
- Labour market alignment: how microcredentials can respond to specific sectoral skills shortages and promote employability.
- Future of VET: integrating flexible, short-term learning opportunities into broader lifelong learning and upskilling strategies.
Speakers:
- Anastasia Pouliou, Expert in qualifications and credentials, Future of VET β CEDEFOP
- Ana Dias, Project Coordinator, TecMinho β Portugal
- Dr. Violetta Kytinou, Democritus University of Thrace β Greece
Coordination:
Aspasia Mousoulidi, Project Manager, PEDMEDE – Greece
